Great headshots are ones that showcase your face and bring out your authentic personality. So the most important part of that is your expression. You don’t want your makeup, jewelry, etc. taking center stage. My colleague Nina Parker taught me that hair and makeup should not be distracting or drawing attention away from YOU. For business headshots, a natural look generally reads best on camera. Women do well to keep the eye makeup soft and well blended, without hard eyeliner, overly-plucked or pencilled in brows, and no garishly colored lipstick or eyeshadow.

Men do not need makeup for headshots. In fact, if you show up wearing makeup, the first thing we’ll do is remove it!
