News: Lori Linstruth . com2 August, 2006 The summer tour with SoP was fantastic — thanks to everyone who came out to support us! You can read about the tour on my tour stories blog, Have Wah, Will Travel. I'm now safely back home, working hard on getting as much done for Warbride as I can before work takes over later on in the autumn. Oh, and I've got a new website :-) I hope you'll find the new design cleaner and faster loading than the old one. Bye for now 13 May 2006

5 May 2006 Stream of Passion hits the stage again this summer! So far we are confirmed for the following dates: June 22 Paard van Troje ::: Den Haag (NL) Hope to see you there! Lori 4 April 2006 Things are going really well for S.o.P, largely due to the support from our fans, who have been very diligent about sending in their requests to the video channels and spreading the word about S.o.P in many nice ways. Our video for Out in the Real World has been getting heavy airplay on TMF and MTV in the Netherlands. It was even made the TMF "Superclip" for a week! The single is also made it into several different charts in the Netherlands. I'm too busy to keep track of all the details, but the important thing is that things are going well and that all of us in S.o.P really appreciate what our friends are doing to help "Spread the Stream." Bye for now, Lori
25 February, 2006 The Stream of Passion tour (read the tour diary here) was more fantastic than I ever could have imagined. Thanks very much to everyone who came out to support us! Big hugs and thanks to Arjen, Jolanda and everyone in the band and crew for making it the most amazing experience of my life. Pinkie Respect and RAMMSTEN! \m/ I will never forget you and all the fun we had! I've got lots of stories from the tour that there wasn't time to post from the road. Keep your eyes on my blog over the next few days! 11 January, 2006 Happy New Year to everyone, and best wishes for 2006! This will probably be my last site update before leaving for the Stream of Passion tour in a couple of days. Until then I need every waking moment to prepare for the trip. Once I've left for SoP headquarters in the Netherlands, I will only have sporadic access to my email. So between now and the end of February, I will be MUCH WORSE THAN USUAL about replying to emails! (Some of you are probably wondering how I could possibly be worse.) My sincere apologies to anyone who's still waiting for a reply from me -- it's been a very trying winter so far, and the embarrassing number of unanswered emails in my inbox is only one symptom of that. I will, however, be trying to get caught up on email over the next few days before I leave. There are some new videos up on the music page, and you might notice a new link in the menu. Yes, against my better judgment, I've created one of those silly blog thingies so that I can chronicle the adventures of touring with SoP. If it turns out that I enjoy writing in the blog, I may continue posting my inane ramblings there after I return. There are also some Warbride song samples uploaded on the Warbride site. We have activated the cheezy forum there too, so you can let us know what you think! That's all for now; see some of you out on the road! 16 September, 2005 Tour dates for Stream of Passion's european tour have been announced, and the video clip for the song "Passion" is now available for download. Get it all at www.streamofpassion.com . 6 September, 2005 Lots of Stream of Passion news in the past couple of weeks: a deal with Sony BMG, new song samples on the website (including a full track), and the announcement of a tour in early 2006. See the Stream of Passion site for details! 1 August, 2005 There are five Stream of Passion song samples available for download at www.streamofpassion.com. More to come at regular intervals up to the 26 September release date... 18 July, 2005 Check out the promotional trailer for Stream of Passion's debut CD/DVD! 14 July, 2005 Eva from MetalQueens.com contacted me a few months ago about submitting some material for an article in the Spanish guitar magazine Guitarra Actual. Today I received my copy of the result (kindly sent by Eva), and I'm really impressed. They did a really good job. There is a tab and bio in the article, and on of my cheeky videos is on the CD-rom. Thanks, Eva! 26 May, 2005 Stream of Passion is a new band put together by Arjen A. Lucassen. Not a project this time, but a real BAND. And he's put me in it, doing the lead guitar duties. Who woulda thunk it!? You can read the band's bio on the Stream of Passion website. You can also visit my fellow band members' websites: Forcefeed (Johan, Bass); Elfonía (Marcela and Alejandro, vox and piano), and of course, Arjen A. Lucassen (Ayreon, Star One). Warbride is still alive and kicking, still working on recording our first CD (it's taking longer than we thought). Be sure to catch our interview in the June 2005 issue of Metal Maidens. 27 March, 2005 Just a quick update to let everyone know that I'm still alive and kicking, ornery as ever, but far too busy to spend much time updating the web site. Warbride vocalist Suz and I are focusing on writing material for our upcoming CD, which is taking time because we want every song to be as good as it possibly can be. This entails LOTS of re-writing and nitpicking. But we sure as heck won't be rhyming "fire" with "desire." We hope to have some sound clips up on the Warbride site soon. 25 January, 2005 If you visit this page on Arjen Lucassen's website, you can find two full mp3's from the bonus disc for the forthcoming re-issue of The Final Experiment. One of them, Waracle, includes a guitar solo by yours truly. 14 January, 2005 A new review (in Italian) and interview (in English, because I don't speak Italian) posted on Matt Cafissi's Guitar Chef. Thanks so much, Matt! 3 January, 2005 One of my favorite musicians, Arjen Lucassen, asked me to play some guest solos on the bonus disc for his forthcoming CD, a re-release of The Final Experiment. The bonus disc features several talented vocalists and instrumentalists from around the world, and it's a real honor for me to be included among them. You can read the details here. 11 December, 2004 New reviews! Thanks to Toine and Rita at Metal Maidens for the nice review and words of support. You can read the review here. Big thanks to Odette from Sleaze-Metal.com for her nice review as well (in German and English). 21 November, 2004 My Digitech 2101 Guitar preamp and my Johnson J-station are for sale. They're both in good shape, work perfectly, and run on 220v. If you are interested, feel free to contact me. 6 November 2004 Joost, a Dutch songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, recently asked me to do a solo for one of his new songs. We had collaborated before on a song for the Ayreon tribute album. Joost has several songs available for download on his website (if you sign up for a free membership you can download full HQ mp3s). My solo is on a song called Cylia - you can hear it on Joost's site. 1 November 2004 New demo review by Eva of Metal Queens. Thanks so much, Eva, for the really nice review! 21 October 2004 Virtuosity One has written a very flattering review of my demo. (I am still blushing!) Thanks so much! There is a lot of interesting guitar info on Virtuosity One - be sure to check it out! 7 October 2004 Another review of my demo CD, this time by Mike Ballue of Hellride. Thanks so much Mike for the nice compliments! There is also an interview with yours truly, courtesy of the unquenchable Batttttty (that's 6 t's, I've counted them), posted on the Get Ready to Rock website. Thanks Batttttty! 2 October 2004 Thanks to everyone who has taken the plunge and ordered my demo - I really appreciate it! The first review came in today, written by Markus Vahtola of Rock Reviews. Thank you so much Markus for the very flattering review! 22 September, 2004
OK, OK, it's ready now! I've gone the DIY route with the demo, and it is available now here. It is a completely self-produced effort (for better or worse!) though many people have been helpful along the way. SPECIAL THANKS to audio wizard Dallas Hodgson for helping me out with my drum dilemma and general recording problems, and to Arjen Lucassen for kind permission to include my cover of The Dream Sequencer. And thanks to everyone who has written and nagged me about getting this project finished! Now it's on to new things, like getting my fellow Warbride sisters up and running technology-wise for recording our full-length CD. I'm including Dream Sequencer on my demo because it's the most "me" of anything I've ever done, despite not being my own composition. I'll be doing another version for the Ayreon Tribute - an INDUSTRIAL version - which should be a lot of fun. I love the chords so much that it will be a pleasure to work on a new version. I have removed most of the videos from my music page because someone has been hotlinking to them on forums and causing me bandwidth problems. Apparently, "unlimited traffic" is not really unlimited at my web host, because I received a warning last month about "excessive traffic." But because I do know that many people enjoy the videos (if not for the music, at least for a laugh) I have left a couple short ones up just for fun. 21 August, 2004 I am in the unfortunate position of having to sell one of my guitars, so if you are in the market for an HM strat, please see my listing on ebay. My version of Arjen A. Lucassen's "Dream Sequencer: reprise" was finished a few days ago. It has now been submitted for consideration for the Ayreon tribute album. I still don't know whether or not it is appropriate to post a short sample here, but I can tell you that it is by far the best thing I've ever recorded. It was my first serious attempt at recording with my Digitech 2101 and I was really pleased with the result. Thanks to Danny and Chad for being so free with their advice on the Digitech, and to Dallas for all his advice about recording and mixing. It has made a big difference, though I still tend to overdo it on the reverb.
11 August, 2004 "Sail Away to Avalon" (the collaboration with Joost and others for the tribute album to Arjen A. Lucassen) is mixed and ready. It was both an honor and a pleasure to participate in the recording. My own personal contribution to the tribute, "The Dream Sequencer: Reprise," will be finished by the end of the week. If possible I will post some short sound clips, but as this is for an album release I am not sure at this point if I am allowed to do so. Alex Hobcraft has generously contributed a lesson to the guests page. In the lesson, Alex expounds on the possibilities that two-handed tapping can open up for guitar soloing, and provides several exercises and examples. Trust me, Alex can TAP. If you like the lesson, please make sure to and tell him! July 27, 2004 Chad Coggin has kindly agreed to contribute a series of video guitar tutorials on phasing and vibrato. You can find them on the guests page. Chad is one of the best guitarists I know when it comes to phrasing and vibrato, so it is very exciting for me to be able to share his videos with you. There is a lot more available on his website, www.chadcoggin.com. If you like the lessons, please to let Chad know about it! Don Duderockstar Harrold has written a review of my playing. It is posted on his site. While you are there, be sure to check out some of the other reviews - there are some great players featured. 20 July, 2004 Regular visitors to the site will notice that there have been some changes here. I'm happy to report that the changes are not merely cosmetic: in addition to a new look for the site, there are a lot of exciting things happening for me at the moment. The biggest news is that my band, Warbride, has now officially reformed with original members Susie Shubert (vocals), Velia T. Garay (keyboards), and Sandy Sledge (drums). I am very excited about the prospect of making music in a band context again, as well as reforging my friendship with the lovely Warbride girls. We have set a one-year deadline for the independent release of our first full CD, but the way things are moving, it will probably be finished much sooner. Other news: Joost, a multi-instrumentalist from the Netherlands, has kindly asked me to contribute the guitar parts on a song for an Arjen Lucassen / Ayreon tribute CD. We are covering the Ayreon classic "Sail Away to Avalon." I will also be making a solo contribution to the CD, a version of Arjen's "The Dream Sequencer: reprise" from the Ayreon CD Universal Migrator. Finally: The demo I've been teasing you all with will be ready by the end of the summer. Sorry for the delay, and many, many thanks to everyone who has written to inquire about it and show support for my music. It is really touching! I'll be putting some sound samples up soon. |
